Welcome to The Lord Nelson.
An iconic, traditional pub steeped in history and situated
in the beautiful countryside of Burnham Thorpe.

Nestled quietly yet majestically at the end of Walsingham Road as you leave the beautiful village of Burnham Thorpe close to the North Norfolk coast, the market town of Burnham Market and a short drive from the award winning Holkham beaches and seaside town of Wells next the Sea.

Close to the river Burn, opposite the village green and a short walk from All Saints church, where Edmund Nelson, father of Lord Admiral Horatio Nelson was Rector. Burnham Thorpe is famed for being the birthplace of Horatio Nelson. The church is a short walk from the pub and has flags flown by HMS Indomitable at the Battle of Jutland, and by HMS Nelson, are in the nave and the tombs of his parents are in the Chancel.

Our well accomplished chefs produce locally sourced dishes perfectly accompanied by our wide range of carefully selected wines, cocktails and the freshest Woodforde’s beer!

Please note our online menu is a sample menu, this is because it is frequently updated to ensure we continue to use the freshest local ingredients.

Woodforde's Brewery

Founded in 1981, Woodforde’s is home to a wide range of craft beers and traditional ales including two Supreme Champion Beers of Britain, and the New World Brewing collection of craft beers. Named in honour of Parson James Woodforde, an 18th Century clergyman who wrote lovingly in his diaries of a love for good food & great beer, our story starts in the 1960’s during the new-wave revolution of home brewers creating authentic flavours & crafting their own beers.
